We have been seeing our hawk. Haven't tried to identify yet but think it is juvenile.
Today we see a pair of Wood Ducks on our stump and in our trees.

Another Year 2019
I returned from Oaxaca on Feb 14th. Going to take a stab at this blog today.
Pat returned March 11th.
It has been very cold, every day, rarely into the 40's. Only a few light snows, a dusting or an inch or so. Generally ground is clear.
The lake has been frozen until 2 days ago when it thawed due to a singular day it bumped up to 58 degrees for a while and two days of rain.
Birds:
I saw a few geese before March 1st but not often until a week ago and with the thaw they are honking and rutting.
Saw a cardinal close to March 1st. very cold.
From March 1st till now we have seen: many grackles, robins, chickadee, house finches, crow, starlings,
Waterbirds:
I have been seeing a few Mallards for a week or so. Starting yesterday with the thaw we are seeing:
- A Pied Billed Grebe
- Buffelheads
- Scaup
- Very noisy Canada Geese
